Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long have you been keeping and breeding snakes?
A: We’ve been successfully keeping and breeding a variety of reptile species for over 20-years. Giantkeeper Reptiles itself has been around for 20 years!
Q: What is the temperament of the snake you have posted for sale?
A: All of the snakes in our collection are easily handleable. Each and every blood python we have are acclimated to the environment and schedule we have created for them. We cannot guarantee this will be the case when we ship to you. Shipping and changes in environment are extremely stressful on blood pythons. This can cause them to bite, huff and flail or in some instances even go off-feed. It has been our experience (proven hundreds of times) that if you have sound husbandry and you are patient, that your blood python will come around on their own.
Q: Do you provide weights of your snakes?
A: No. This has historically been something the ball python community has done. We have a very tried and true process for raising our snakes. We also take pride in our standing in the community. When we post a snake for sale, we are putting up an animal that is healthy, being fed and raised properly! That’s our standard.
Q: Why are your snakes smaller than others I see of the same age?
A: We believe in the long game. We believe in having snakes that are treated as living, breathing creatures. Not cash cows. We raise our snakes slowly. They are fed on a 7-10 day cycle, but never excessively large food items. We breed our snakes at 3-4 years of age for males and 4-5 years of age for females. We also rotate breeding females to ensure each girl has at least a full season off from breeding. In our opinion this leads to healthy individuals with long-life cycles.
Q: Picture Policy, why is yours different than industry standard?
A: Window shopping. Far too many individuals ask for additional pictures and then disappear without even a response. Taking pictures, takes time. Alliey and I both have full time jobs, have dogs and a house to take care of. This means we have to manage how we spend our time, as best and efficiently as possible. If you’re a dedicated buyer, our policy won’t negatively affect you. We’re happy to dedicate our time to dedicated buyers.
Q: Are your prices negotiable?
A: No. Our pricing is always in line with the market, and often times better. We do offer discounts for multiple animal purchases.
